Butterflies

I have recently noticed butterflies flying around our house. I'm not just talking about 1 or 2, but several everyday are flying around our house. I then began to notice that there are several cocoons hanging around on the back of our house. I have never seen so many cocoons in one place in my life. I decided to take some pictures of the cocoons. Here are some of them I have spotted.

A few days later I noticed that butterflies were coming out of their cocoons! It was pretty cool to see the butterfly hanging there. I decided to do some research on the whole life cycle of a caterpillar becoming a butterfly and I discovered that butterfly wings are wet when they emerge from their cocoon and they are also deflated. The butterfly has to let it's wings dry and also releases this red dye into it's viens to inflate the wings. Once this process takes place then the butterfly will fly away on it's journey. Here are some pictures of the butterfly once it has come out of the cocoon.
